Central Florida Video Productions Win Emmy® Awards
Founder of Vela Visuals LLC, Shawn Vela earned 8 Emmy® Awards at the 42nd Annual Suncoast Regional EMMY AWARDS. Four of the winning awards were for films earned by his agency Vela Visuals. The awards ceremony took place on December 1, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. The 2018 Emmy® wins puts his total career wins at 13 Emmys® at the time of this article.
Shawn received awards in the following categories as a Producer, Director, Director of Photography, and Editor: Human Interest Program Feature/Segment, Religion – Program, Documentary – Topical, Cinematography – Program, and Cinematography – Short Form Commercial.
When asked what receiving these awards means for him, Shawn said:
“Receiving an Emmy® is an enormous honor. What is even more rewarding is the experience of being trusted as a steward to tell incredible stories.”

The Sea Aire Motel follows the faith and obedience journey of Nita Breadwell, owner of the Sea Aire Motel. For years, Nita has been hosting beach baptisms for First Baptist Orlando at her motel. After the devastation of Hurricane Irma, the Sea Aire Motel was left in shambles. Nita wrestles with the idea of rebuilding for the larger purpose of continuing to do beach baptisms.

A Mother’s Love follows the story of Mary Ekhator. Mary is a mother of three children who despite growing up in Nigeria chose to relocate her family to Orlando after the passing of her late husband. Arriving to an unfamiliar country, Mary’s faith does not waiver and she works hard to provide a life for her family. As Mary struggles she discovers God’s provision and support through the community of First Baptist Church Orlando.

Shawn Vela is a 13-Time Emmy® Award Winning Director, Cinematographer, and Editor. He is the Founder of Vela Visuals, a video production agency based in Orlando Florida that specializes in creating lifestyle, commercial, and documentary films.
Vela has been recognized for filming on four Super Bowl Commercial sets, IMBD credits on Documentaries, and director of photography on the Business Travel Show Ambitious Adventures.
